Michael Lewis, architecte new-yorkais, travaille à la rénovation d'un vieil hôtel à Londres. Un jour, il renverse accidentellement une vieille dame en voiture. Avant de mourir, celle-ci lui transmet son étrange pouvoir : communiquer avec les morts. C'est ainsi que Lewis va être amené à entrer en contact avec les victimes d'un tueur en série, afin de découvrir l'identité de celui-ci.
